My daughter Avery was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia on April 8, 2005. This was my first experience with cancer. Through our amazing 2 year and 3 month battle, Avery and I learned a few surprising facts:

- Cancer is the #1 disease killer of children under the age of 20.
- Childhood Cancer tends to be more aggressive then adult cancers.
- Less then 2% of Federal Funding for Cancer research is directed to Childhood Cancer.
- Major drug companies focus on adult cancer treatment and not on the treatment of Childhood Cancer.
- Most Childhood Cancer patients are treated with drugs designed for adults.
- In the last 10 years there has been one new drug developed and approved in the fight of Childhood Cancer.
